You still want to see your friends. Finding an evening when nobody is tired, working or looking after someone is another matter. A short playground visit can fit into an afternoon you already have, without finding a free weekend first. Start with a friend you miss and a small opportunity you’d enjoy even if it ends up being brief.
Make the most of time at the playground
Think about where your afternoons already take you: nursery pickup, the playground on the way home, or a familiar park. Instead of adding another appointment, let a friend know you’ll be stopping there. If you use Friendground together, check the plans they’ve chosen to share before you leave. You can pick a place manually; sharing your device location isn’t required. There’s no need to know how everyone’s week looks.
Suggest a short visit
For example, pickup is at three and you’ll need to leave for dinner by four. You could suggest, “We’ll be at the playground after pickup until about four. Fancy a short visit?” Your friend might only manage the last twenty minutes, and that can still be worth doing. Say roughly when you’ll leave so nobody has to guess. If today doesn’t work, a friendly “another time” leaves the invitation open without creating a debt.
After a pleasant visit, ask whether the same sort of gap comes up again: “Are Thursdays usually good for you?” Treat that as a useful possibility, rather than a standing promise. Check in again when you actually know your plans. A sick day, a late pickup or someone needing a quiet afternoon can change things. In Friendground you share each visit separately and can change or end your own update when you need to.
Invite the friends you’d like to see
Start with people you already know from the playground, nursery or your neighbourhood. Send a personal invitation or show your QR code when you’re together. Once you’re friends in the app, you can see each other’s shared plans. You don’t have to add names or other details about your children to share a visit. Keep using whichever way of talking feels natural; the app can help you spot an opening for your next conversation in person.
